Faux Palindrome

October 13, 2012
Watercolour, pencil crayon, and ink on kozo washi (Japanese mulberry paper)
1 x 38 cm

Faux Palindrome was painted in Calgary one winter when the light there was wonderfully bright. This painting arises out of a society with an obsessive interest in symmetry. Some of the symbols refer to that synchronicity but position themselves as a contradiction.

Thanks to Professor James Clifford, from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
